South Korea Plans First Commercial UAM Vertiport at Goyang KINTEX
The South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) and Goyang City have signed an MOU on March 6 to develop South Korea’s first commercial UAM vertiport at the KINTEX exhibition complex, with construction beginning in 2027.
Project Details
Location: KINTEX, Goyang City (northwest of Seoul) — major exhibition and transportation hub.
Phased Construction: Passenger terminal and maintenance facilities to be built in stages from 2027.
Korea Airports Corporation: Designated as the operator for UAM test hub, leveraging existing aviation management expertise.
Tactical Significance
This is the K-UAM Roadmap’s first concrete infrastructure milestone, transitioning UAM from policy documents to physical construction. The KINTEX location connects to GTX metro, KTX high-speed rail, and Incheon Airport corridors, creating a multi-modal hub. For UAM operators and eVTOL OEMs, this vertiport becomes the critical early-adopter proving ground for Korean commercial UAM operations.
